Hello, this is Carlos Fenollosa. |
Who am I?
I'm a PhD student at the IRB Barcelona (Molecular Modelling and Bioinformatics lab, funded by the Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute).
I have a computer engineering degree with a MSc in Artificial Intelligence. This page contains a small map of my Internet-related interests. In my linkedIn profile you can find my résumé and more information about.
You can contact me by e-mail. It might take some time but I always reply to all emails :)
What is this page?
This page is my window on the Internet. It contains links to, basically, my writings, podcasts and photos, but it is also a hub with information about myself and the places I visit. One could say that I created this page to lead here to anybody who's looking for me.
To enter any section, click on its title or the image below it. Keep in mind that some of the content might appear in Spanish.
Research
My Masters Thesis is titled «Using AI techniques to determine promoter location based on DNA structure calculations». At that address you can find the document and the presentation I used for its defense.
You can access my scientific homepage here. To learn more about my work, please visit my linkedIn profile.
Social network
A social network is no more than the use of the Web as a connection between people with the same interests. I use different public and open services to learn more about my interests. You can start by having a look on my blog's and flickr's links, and then:
- An incomplete list of the movies I've watched and my rating: imdb
- My linkedIn profile: Carlos Fenollosa
- Some of the videos on youtube or vimeo
- I'm also on Facebook.
As a curiosity, I chose Topopardo as my nickname because I knew I'll be the only one with that nick on the Internet—it worked! If you want to track me, just search for Topopardo
Dame la voz / Dóna'm la veu
«Dame la voz» and «Dóna'm la veu» are two weekly debate podcasts. We record them in a semi-professional style, where a group of young people analyzes the main news from an independent point of view. These two projects aim to, on one hand, extend the use of podcasting as a mainstream media and, on the other hand, fill an opinion gap on the news, who completely ignore young people and minimize them to four pages on the friday section.
The two podcasts share a blog where the speakers also write about current news and their opinion. It is bilingual, in Spanish and Catalan, and the user can also translate between the two languages using Google, as the entries are unique.
Dame la voz is recorded in Spanish and its main topics cover the global news, while Dóna'm la veu is produced in Catalan, and analyzes the local events. Both are released on a weekly basis, every sunday morning.
To learn more and listen to the podcasts, please visit our blog.
El amuleto de Yendor
El amuleto de Yendor is a podcast on which Nacho Lasheras and myself give our opinions on technology-related topics.
You can find the historical archives of my previous podcast, el podcast de Punto y aparte on blip.tv, a specialized site for podcasts and video blogs.
Punto y aparte
I closed the blog in 2009, but the articles are still online. I used to write about free software, the Web and Internet rights. I also contribute in another blog with three friends, the Spanish Primos, but don't take seriously anything you read there.
